
Administrative Assistant
Purpose: The Administrative Assistant supports the mission and ministry of Brook UMC in the areas of communication, scheduling, hospitality and administrative support.
Supervision: The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Pastor who works in collaboration with the Staff-Parish Relations Committee of Brook UMC.
Position Hours: 15 hours a week.
Compensation: Part-time salary determined with consideration to experience. Pay range $11-13 hour.
Benefits: 1 week of paid vacation January 1-June 30 and 1 week of paid vacation July 1-December 31.
Responsibilities:
· Maintain a well-organized and welcoming office
· Respond to phone calls, emails, and walk-in visitors in a kind, professional, and hospitable manner
· Refer issues, questions, or problems to the Pastor or appropriate church leader
· Support the ministry of the Pastor by helping manage communication and administrative duties
· Compile, edit, and prepare weekly church bulletin in conjunction with the Pastor
· Create PowerPoint slides and media to be displayed during weekly worship
· Manage churchwide database
· Maintain church calendar and scheduling in conjunction with the Pastor and Trustees
· Facilitate reminder communication to committee members prior to meetings
· Assist Treasurer and Financial Secretary as needed with their responsibilities
· Prepare monthly newsletter with input from the Pastor
· Create and coordinate ministry schedules (i.e. nursery, children’s church, liturgists, ushers, etc.)
· Write and distribute media releases as needed for social platforms
· Assist with management and upkeep of the church website
· Provide administrative support to leaders and ministry areas of the church as needed

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Professional experience in the areas of administrative support and communication
· Proficiency in the use of computer systems
· Welcoming personality, team player, responsible, and self-motivated
· Ability to be collaborative with others and to maintain confidentiality
Applicants should have one year of progressively responsible experience in administrative support.
Education/experience equivalents considered.
Work will be conducted in a professional office setting.
