Tuesday of Holy Week

We light a light in the name of the God who creates life, the savior who loves life, and the Spirit who is the fire of life. Be still and aware of God’s presence within and all around.

READ: JOHN 12:20-36

What word or phrase stands out to you in the reading? Look at all the contradictory images in this passage: death/life, love/lose, glory/judgment, light/darkness. What do these images mean to you today? Where do you find hope in times of sadness?

Take a look outside your window today, or go outside if you are able. What signs of hope do you see today? In this season when there is so much suffering in our world, think about where there might be signs of hope.

O God, by the passion of your blessed Son you made an instrument of shameful death to be for us the means of life: Grant us so to glory in the cross of Christ, that we may gladly suffer shame and loss for the sake of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
