Pastor Matt is originally from Northern Indiana. He graduated from Oregon-Davis High School in Hamlet, and Bethel College (majored in Christian Ministries) in Mishawaka. Brittany is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and she also attended Bethel (majored in Studio Art) where she and Matt met.

From 2009-2019, the Baughmans have lived in rural Washington, where Matt has been the pastor to Lakeview Missionary Church. While in Washington, Matt also completed his Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and served as a chaplain for hospice care. Matt enjoys roasting coffee and is a board game enthusiast. Brittany has worked in graphic design and communications, but much of her work experience has been in social service. Now, she is a homemaker and cares for Moira (age 6) and Margot (age 3); who are very active and creative! Brittany enjoys sewing, running, and all things kitchen related. The family enjoys gardening, chickens, reading, and taking walks.
