New Here?

Whether you've grown up in church or are trying it out for the first time, we want you to feel welcomed at Brook UMC. We know visiting churches can be scary, so we do our best to make you feel at home when worshipping with us. Here are a few frequently asked questions and answers we hope will help put you at ease. See you in worship!

What should I expect when I visit on a Sunday morning?

When you enter the church foyer, you will be greeted by smiling faces excited to meet you. After making your way up the stairs or elevator, our friendly ushers (and likely Pastor Evan) will welcome you and provide a bulletin that gives a snapshot of what's planned for worship, as well as events and announcements in the life of the church. You are then invited to have a seat anywhere in the sanctuary. Don't worry...there are no "reserved" seats to navigate! Worship starts at 9:00AM (Central Time) and typically lasts right around an hour, including a blend of "traditional" worship with a "contemporary" message from Pastor Evan. After worship, you are invited to join us for a time of fellowship in our social hall with delicious coffee and donuts. We hope you'll quickly feel like you're with family!

What should I wear?

On Sunday mornings, you will see people dressed in everything from shorts and t-shirts to suits and dresses. There is no dress code and others aren't concerned with what you wear. We just want you to come as you are.

What is there for young children?

At Brook, we delight in having many young families with lots of kids as part of our congregation. We believe it is important for families to worship together, so all children are invited to join their parents during our 9:00AM service until Children's Church begins later in the service (although they're welcome to stay with you the entire time). The ushers will be happy to provide you with an activity bag for your kids to enjoy during worship. We also always have a Children's Moment, which creatively communicates the gospel message in a way kids can understand. For your convenience, we also have a nursery for children three and under that is staffed during worship by two trained volunteers who have undergone background checks. After worship, all kids are invited to a children's Sunday School class during the first 30 minutes of fellowship time. You're invited to make new friends uninterrupted while your children do the same!

What is there for 6th-12th graders?

We have a very active youth group with several adult leaders who take seriously the task of investing in the next generation. The youth group meets every Sunday night (except holidays) during the school year from 7:00-8:30PM. Every week they play fun games, eat good food, and go deeper in their faith together. The youth also go on various fun outings and trips throughout the year.
